Why retirement coaching? It all started when I was working for Transpower in HR. We had an aging workforce and difficulties attracting engineers with the right experience. Meanwhile, it was obvious that many of those in their late 50s and early 60's had no idea what their 'retirement' was going to be like. Basically they had no plan for the next 30plus years of their life! Was it to continue working, to study, set up their own business, spend more time with family, volunteer, run a marathon, focus on a new hobby, travel? What was it that was going to provide a sense of meaning and purpose if they did stop working?
With my background of HR, including strategic workforce planning; executive coaching and passion for what I call "facilitating positive change" I find it incredibly satisfying to help people develop their retirement design and plan. To help people develop self awareness and overcome barriers to ensure they get to what they really want from life
I love learning new things and over the past few years have studied a diverse variety of subjects including leadership, neuroscience, hypnotherapy, gut health, shame and courage, anxiety and burnout, positive psychology and mindfulness. At the same I have dabbled in local politics, held a few not-for-profit governance roles as well as built and ran a guest lodge! As such I have a range of skills, experience and knowledge to call on (and yes, I like variety and can juggle priorities well!). I may not have reached my 60s yet but I have 'walked the talk' in terms of designing and planning the life I lead!
